Motorists warned of highway closure between Pretoria and OR Tambo Airport this weekend

A section of the R21 highway will be closed once again this weekend for repair work by Eskom.

Motorists are urged to note that the R21 highway will be closed to traffic for certain periods of time between Nellmapius Drive and Olifantsfontein Road this weekend.

According to the Tshwane Metro Police, the road will be closed at these times:

  • Saturday, April 27, from 06:00 until 18:00
  • Sunday, April 29, from 06:00 until 12:00

The road closure is related to the installation of new conductors and power lines across the highway by power utility Eskom.

Kempton Express reported motorists travelling between Pretoria and OR Tambo International Airport will need to ensure sufficient plans are made to use alternate routes.

Eskom had previously announced that the road will be closed for electrical repairs. The first closure was on April 21.
