Court blow for Zulu King

Prince Mbonisi Zulu wants the Pietermaritzburg High Court to interdict King Misuzulu from exercising any powers over the Ingonyama Trust.

Prince Mbonisi Zulu, the uncle of Zulu King Misuzulu kaZwelithini on Thursday won the first round of the legal battle to curtail the powers of His Majesty regarding the affairs of the Ingonyama Trust.

Zulu wants the Pietermaritzburg High Court to interdict King Misuzulu from exercising any powers over the Ingonyama Trust, which controls over 2,8 million hectares of land in KwaZulu-Natal, of which the king is the sole trustee.

Further, Zulu’s lawyers want the court to interdict the Ingonyama Trust from paying King Misuzulu’s legal fees.
