Man shot in the head while driving in Laudium
The victim was declared dead on the scene after being shot in the head twice. A manhunt is underway to find the killer(s).
Police in Pretoria are investigating a murder case after a man was shot while driving in Laudium on Friday night.
Tshwane police spokesperson Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk says a manhunt was launched to arrest the perpetrator(s).
Van Dyk adds the shooting took place around 23:00 on the corner of Jewel and Sapphire streets.
According to a Laudium SAPS report, the man was driving along Sapphire Street in a blue Renault Clio, when an unknown person began to shoot at him.
“The victim managed to drive until the corner of 13th Avenue and Sapphire Street, where he collided with a tree and passed away,” says Van Dyk.
He adds the victim, whose age is not known, was declared dead on the scene by medical personnel from the Tshwane Emergency Services Department.
Van Dyk says there was no witness on the scene and that the suspect or suspects are not known at this stage.
PAJ Community Patrollers reports that its control room received notice of a motor vehicle accident followed by gunshots at about 22:42.
The security organisation says that more gunshots were heard a few minutes later.
“A vehicle hit a tree, and the occupant was found with two gunshot wounds to the head.”
