Police are on the hunt for four gunmen who shot and killed three women and injured two more, including an 11-year-old girl, in Magwaza in Malangeni, KZN, on Sunday.

According to police reports, the five women were in a rondavel getting ready to go to sleep when the gunmen forced the door open.

One of the gunmen, who is said to have had his face concealed with a balaclava, allegedly pointed out the women he wanted shot and killed.

Three women, aged 28, 37 and 61, were found with multiple gunshot wounds and were declared dead at the scene.

The surviving victims, the 11-year-old girl and a 60-year-old woman, had gunshot wounds to their arms and legs.

The motive behind the shooting in unknown, and the gunmen are still at large.

Police said domestic-related violence could not be ruled out as initial investigations revealed that one of the deceased women, the 37-year-old, was going through a divorce and was claiming a portion of her estranged husband’s pension.
