Man commits suicide after allegedly murdering wife in Limpopo

Police are investigating a murder and suicide after discovering two bodies in a home.

A couple was found dead in their home just outside Lebowakgomo in Limpopo on Monday afternoon.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba says preliminary investigations revealed that the couple had an argument that led to the 49-year-old male allegedly burning his 45-year-old wife with hot water.

The victim sustained severe burn wounds and died from her injuries.

The husband’s body was also found on the premises, Ledwaba says.

“It appears that the husband committed suicide after the incident as his body was found hanging in one of the rooms of the house.”

The police found a death note with the man’s body that will help with investigations.

“Couples having relationship challenges should seek professional assistance to avoid catastrophic consequences of this nature,” says provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe.
