Ermelo businessman murdered: Woman and 4 men arrested

Law enforcement says more arrests are expected following the murder of a 34-year-old business owner.

Four more suspects have been arrested in connection with an Ermelo businessman’s murder last week.

According to an article published by Highvelder, the suspects were arrested in Hazyview, Mpumalanga, yesterday.

Four suspects stormed into HDS Ermelo Cut & Edge at around 15:00 on November 20 and allegedly shot the owner shortly afterwards.

According to Captain Carla Prinsloo, the spokesperson for the Ermelo police, the suspects pointed a weapon at the staff and customers and ordered them to lie on the floor.

They searched them for cellphones and personal belongings and also took money from the cash register.

“The suspects asked where the owner was and moved towards a storage area at the back of the business, after which the staff heard a gunshot,” says Prinsloo.

Shortly afterwards, the suspects fled on foot.

The 34-year-old owner was found with a gunshot wound in the storage area, and an ER24 paramedic declared him dead.

The police immediately began their investigation, which led to a woman being questioned and arrested the next day.

Further investigations led to the arrest of four more suspects in Hazyview, Mpumalanga, yesterday.

“More arrests can be expected,” says Prinsloo.

The suspects are expected to appear in court soon.
