N6 bus-truck crash near Reddersburg leaves 10 dead, over 31 injured

A fatal crash between a bus and a truck on the N6 near Reddersburg left 10 dead and over 31 injured, with diversions in place.

A fatal collision between a bus and a truck occurred this morning on the N6, about 15km south of Reddersburg in the Free State towards Smithfield.

Bloemfontein Courant reports the crash left 10 people dead and more than 31 injured. Emergency services and law enforcement are on the scene.

Chairperson of the Free State Road Incident Management System and EMS spokesperson Sipho Towa says alternative routes have been provided for commuters.

“From Reddersburg, traffic is diverted to the R717 towards Edenburg (27km); from Edenburg, take the N1 to Springfontein (69.5km), then the R715 to Smithfield (103km) back to the N6. From Smithfield, take the R715 to Springfontein, then the N1 to Bloemfontein (140km),” adds Towa.
