A Middelburg woman accused of stabbing her boyfriend to death is expected to apply for bail when she appears in court today.

According to the Middelburg Observer, Zandile Mzana (38) made her first appearance in the Middelburg Magistrate’s Court last Monday.

Police said Mzana was arrested last Friday at the Vaalbank informal settlement near the N4.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found the victim lying on his back with a stab wound to the left side of his chest. He was wearing black jeans but had no T-shirt or shoes.

An eyewitness told police that Mzana had gone to her sister’s house, angry because she could not find her boyfriend. A few minutes later, he arrived, and the couple started fighting. They left the house and continued arguing outside.

It is alleged that Mzana went back inside, fetched a knife, and stabbed him.

When police arrived, witnesses identified Mzana. She had a bruised right eye and was crying. Officers arrested her, and a paramedic later declared the victim dead.
