Carletonville murder: Much-loved resident shot and killed in house robbery
The senseless killing of an Oberholzer resident has shocked the community.
Although people may think that violent attacks in Carletonville only occur at night, a murder that took place in Oberholzer on Wednesday afternoon proved otherwise.
According to Carletonville police, 67-year-old Mike Black was in his home in Hendrik Street at 14:58 when three robbers started to force open his dual swing, electric front gate.
An article published by Carletonville Herald says Black presumably heard something and, not knowing the danger, unlocked his front door and security gate and walked out to investigate.
He encountered a robber, who shot him on the walkway towards the house.
Black died at the scene.
Although the robbers fled the scene, they returned a short while later and went into the house. They grabbed a plasma TV, laptop, desktop computer, Wi-Fi router and Black’s cellphone, before fleeing again in a small car.
Carletonville detectives are investigating a case of murder.
Anyone who has information that could assist in the investigation is urged to contact Carletonville Detectives or the investigating officer, Sergeant Malesela Kekana, at 076 137 7387.
