Suspected drive-by shooting on N12 near Alberton claims 2 lives
Two men were killed in a shooting incident on a prominent highway, while a woman in another vehicle escaped unharmed.
Two men in a white VW sedan were reportedly fatally shot in what is believed to have been a drive-by shooting on the N12 westbound, near the Voortrekker Road off-ramp to Alberton, yesterday.
According to Kempton Express, the motive for the incident remains unclear, and no suspects have been identified at this stage.
Information from the scene indicates that bullets also struck another vehicle carrying a woman, who was unharmed.
At the time of publishing yesterday afternoon, traffic was severely affected, with three lanes blocked. Vehicles travelling from the N3 southbound towards Alberton were being redirected via the Grey Avenue off-ramp.
Emergency services, including SAPS, Gauteng Traffic Police, CPS Security, ER24 and Netcare 911, were reportedly on the scene, and the highway remained closed while investigations continued.
SAPS has been approached for comment, but none was received by the time of publishing.
