Watch: Learner arrested in eMalahleni after 2 teachers assaulted at school
A school pupil accused of pushing two teachers off stairs is due to again appear in court in November after being released on a warning.
A teenager (18) from an eMalahleni, Mpumalanga, high school appeared in the Witbank Magistrate’s Court yesterday after two teachers were pushed off the steps in front of the administration office.
Witbank News reports that video footage, taken on September 9, shows a learner pushing one teacher down the steps and then pushing a second teacher who came to her aid.
“The teen was arrested after police viewed the video, which contradicted the boy and his mother’s attempt to open a case against the teachers,” says police spokesperson Sergeant David Ratau, who is also the school’s Adopt-a-Cop.
The case against the learner was postponed to November 12, and he was released on a warning.

In addition to the legal proceedings, the school’s headmaster confirmed that a disciplinary hearing for the learner was taking place today.
“Remember, the learner was not yet found guilty,” he says.
The school’s headmaster says a statement was sent to the Department of Education.
Gerald Sambo, the Department of Education’s spokesperson, said a full report will be requested from the district.
