Young man dies after family fight turns fatal on KZN farm

A family argument on a Paulpietersburg farm turned deadly, leaving a 25-year-old man dead and his younger brother in police custody.

A young man died after a family fight turned fatal on a farm outside Paulpietersburg, KZN, in the early hours of this morning.

Vryheid Herald reports that police sources who are not allowed to speak to the media confirmed officers were called to a farm in the Nkonkotho area at about 05:00, where they found the body of a 25-year-old man in his room.

Argument begins at unlicensed liquor spot

According to the sources, the trouble started last night at an unlicensed liquor spot. The victim had allegedly been arguing with another person when his younger brother stepped in to separate them. The group later went home, but the argument flared up again.

Knife enters fight during chaotic struggle

One of the sources said the fight became chaotic when the father tried to break it up. “A knife fell during the struggle. The younger brother picked it up and stabbed him in the chest,” the source said.

The victim walked to his room afterward. He was found dead this morning and the police were alerted.

Detectives arrested the younger brother at the scene, while the knife has been booked into evidence.

The investigation continues.
