An Ethiopian shop owner accused of raping a 21-year-old man living with a disability appeared in the eMalahleni Magistrate’s Court, where his case was postponed.

The accused made his second appearance in the regional court yesterday for what was supposed to be his pre-trial, reports Witbank News.

However, due to the absence of an interpreter, his case was postponed to April 7.

The community of eMalahleni, which has continued to show unity with the family of the victim in seeking justice, expressed satisfaction with the progress made in the case so far.

“I’m happy with how things are going, and I’m hoping that in the end the young man who was violated will find the justice he deserves,” says All Voice Matter founder Abongile Mcoki who continues to show support in the case.

With charges of allegedly raping the Kwa-Guqa young man living with disability, the accused remains in custody, as he was denied bail on December 11, 2025.

According to Mcoki, who also indicated that she is very close to the victim, she received his call on November 30, 2025, around 19:00, crying to her about the disturbing incident in which the Ethiopian man called him to his store, closed the door, and allegedly raped him.

The matter was reported to the Vosman police, who arranged for an immediate arrest.
