Warning issued over fake jobs at Carletonville Hospital

Gauteng residents have been urged to remain vigilant after fraudsters allegedly posed as recruiters and offered fake employment opportunities to unsuspecting job seekers.

Carletonville Hospital has issued an urgent warning to residents regarding a fraudulent recruitment scam operating in the area, reports Carletonville Herald.

According to the hospital’s communication officer, Matabo Letsoalo, an unknown individual is falsely claiming there are vacancies within the hospital’s laundry department.

“The same individual is also recruiting people under the false pretence that his company has secured a security services contract at Carletonville Hospital and is requesting payment from prospective applicants,” said Letsoalo.

The individual behind the scam is reportedly using the mobile numbers 071 164 4233 and 072 889 9565.
Hospital management has clarified that they never recruit staff via phone calls, WhatsApp messages, social media platforms, or external companies.

Furthermore, the hospital will never request payments, deposits, administration fees, or any form of financial contribution in exchange for employment opportunities, interviews, assessments, or appointments.

Job applications are also not accepted through unofficial WhatsApp numbers or personal email addresses.

Letsoalo confirmed that all legitimate vacant posts are officially advertised through the DPSA Vacancy Circular, the Gauteng Professional Job Centre website, jobs.gauteng.gov.za, and selected reputable newspapers.

“If you are asked to make any payment, submit documents through unofficial channels, or urgently apply via WhatsApp, treat it as a scam and report it immediately.”

Members of the public are encouraged to remain vigilant and verify all employment opportunities through official government recruitment platforms,” Letsoalo added.
