Farm attack suspect tracked down and arrested in Lanseria

Nearly nine months after a farm attack, a tip-off led officers to a suspect, who was allegedly linked to the case through CCTV footage and DNA evidence.

A local security company has assisted in the arrest of a suspect wanted in connection with a farm attack that occurred in October last year in Lanseria, reports Krugersdorp News.

According to Guardmax Protection Services sales manager Gerrie van Rooyen, the company received information at about 17:40 on Monday (July 6) regarding the whereabouts of the suspect.

Van Rooyen said the information led tactical response officers to an informal settlement in the Lanseria area.

“Upon arrival, our officers gathered additional information and within minutes located and apprehended the suspect,” he said.

According to Van Rooyen, the suspect was detained while officers verified information that allegedly linked him to the farm attack.

“CCTV footage and DNA evidence ultimately led to the arrest of the long-sought suspect,” he said.

The suspect was subsequently handed over to police for further investigation.
