A woman has reportedly lost her life this morning, (August 14), following a rock-throwing incident on the highway, reports Bedfordview Edenvale News.

Bedfordview SAPS is yet to confirm the incident.

Ward 20 Clr Jill Humphreys reported the incident. She said the incident took place on the Van Der Linde Bridge, crossing the R24.

She added, “As this is a repeat incident, we are please requesting the community to keep a sharp eye out for people/individuals who may be standing on bridges with the possible intention of rock-throwing.”

Jacques Steyn of the Bedfordview CPF said the case is under investigation, with no further information yet.

The Bedfordview CPF has also sent an urgent request for any information that will help to identify and apprehend those responsible for the recent rock-throwing incident.

This incident occurs just over a month after Bedfordview Edenvale News reported on a rock-throwing incident on the N12 near Gillooly’s.

Motorists had been urged to remain vigilant after a video surfaced showing a vehicle with a shattered windscreen after rocks were allegedly thrown at it while travelling on the N12 eastbound.

In a separate article titled Motorist recounts terrifying N12 rock attack near Bedfordview, the victim of the aforementioned rock-throwing incident had shared how she and her fiancé had to sit across from the alleged perpetrator while giving their statements to the Bedfordview SAPS.

At the time, the Bedfordview SAPS did not confirm the arrest status of the alleged perpetrator.
