Woman fatally shot near Wentworth flats

Police are appealing for information following the killing of a Newlands East resident in Durban.

A 25-year-old woman was shot and killed near the flats in Weist Road, Wentworth, on Sunday (August 16).

The victim has been identified as Tamia Erin Fredericks, a resident of Newlands East, reports Southlands Sun.

Police spokesperson Captain Mbuso Gumede says the motive for the murder remains unknown.

“The police are investigating a case of murder. According to information, the victim is from Newlands East. It is unknown whether she was on her way back to Newlands East or visiting when the incident happened,” says Gumede.

Investigation underway

Detectives are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or has information regarding the incident to contact law enforcement.
