Three administration staff members at a clinic in Orange Farm are behind bars after allegedly stealing abortion medication and selling it to a patient for R500.

Sedibeng Ster reports that the trio was arrested yesterday (August 27) following a complaint about missing medication at the clinic.

According to police, Orange Farm SAPS received the complaint at about 15:00 and rushed to the clinic.

When they arrived, officers were informed by a staff member that medication had disappeared from the dispensary.

The drama unfolded when clinic security guards caught a person who was leaving the facility, allegedly in possession of the missing medication.

Police investigations led them to three administration clerks, who were accused of selling the medication.

Orange Farm police spokesperson Sergeant Shaan Motsapi says the person allegedly paid one of the clerks R500.

“The three suspects were immediately arrested and detained at Orange Farm Police Station on charges of theft of medication,” says Motsapi.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Vereeniging Magistrate’s Court soon.

The investigation is continuing.
