Gauteng police arrested a suspect in Tzaneen, Limpopo, last night (September 26) in connection with the death of a woman whose body was discovered at Mooifontein Cemetery in Thembisa earlier that morning.

According to the Kempton Express the suspect was arrested at approximately 23:00 after a multidisciplinary police team tracked him to Tzaneen.

SAPS Acting National Commissioner Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane said, “I commend this multidisciplinary team for their swift response, coordination and determination, which resulted in the apprehension of the suspect on the same day.”

“This is the kind of policing we expect from our members. We will continue to pursue perpetrators of murder and gender-based violence and femicide and ensure that they face the full might of the law.”

Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death and are following leads in other cases involving women whose bodies have been found in Ekurhuleni.

Police said investigations were ongoing.
