KZN father brutally stabbed to death in front of family
No arrests have been made after a KwaZulu-Natal father was brutally stabbed to death as his wife and children watched in shock, police confirmed.
Chatsworth spokesperson Lieutenant Cheryl Pillay said investigations were on-going, Rising Sun Chatsworth reported.
“At this stage, the motive for the attack is unknown,” said Pillay.
Logan Wesley Pillay was believed to have been stabbed twice following an argument with an unknown man who had allegedly urinated at the front gate of his home in Crossmoor.
The 27-year-old father of four had been stabbed in the chest and neck on Thursday.
Pillay’s friend Louie Govender said: “Wesley was involved in community upliftment and safety programmes, and he enthusiastically joined the neighbourhood watch which was formed to help eradicate crime in the area. He will be sadly missed”.
Govender added that the person who had stabbed Pillay was notorious for attacking people in the area.
“We were told that the man who is responsible for the death of my friend is known as Gwaza, which means ‘stab’ in IsiZulu. We cannot fathom how this man… has still not been caught by the police,” he said.
“The law needs to be stricter in terms of bail, and jail terms, which might deter criminals.”
Pillay was laid to rest on Monday in Westcliff.
Last week, a 29-year-old man was stabbed to death in the Wembezi area in KwaZulu-Natal.
It was alleged that Sibongiseni Mtshali had been sleeping alongside his girlfriend in the Zwelisha location when two suspects entered the establishment by force and demanded cash.
The suspects stabbed and killed Mtshali and tried to rape his girlfriend, before fleeing the scene.
One suspect was later arrested, while the other remains at large.
