Phoenix triple murder suspect behind bars

Provincial police spokesman, Lt Col Thulani Zwane confirmed that the man will be charged with three counts of murder.

Phoenix police officers worked tirelessly around the clock to trace the alleged killer of a mother and her two daughters, who were found brutally murdered at their Longcroft home on Friday morning, Phoenix Sun reports.

Their hard work and commitment yielded positive results after a 45-year-old man, reportedly known to the family, was traced and apprehended on Friday evening.

Provincial police spokesman, Lt Col Thulani Zwane confirmed that the man will be charged with three counts of murder.

“He will appear in the Verulam Magistrate’s Court on September 25,” said Lt Col Zwane.

On September 21 at about 9am, police responded to a report of murder on Longcroft Drive in Phoenix. When they arrived at the scene, they discovered two bodies inside the house.

“They were identified as Jane Govender (44) and her daughter, Rackelle (16),” Lt Col Zwane pointed out in an official police statement.

While police were still busy with investigations, they found a third body in a cupboard.

“She was identified as the second daughter, Denisha (22). Three counts of murder were opened at Phoenix SAPS and investigations are continuing,” he concluded.
