Missing KZN boy found dead

Police have opened a case of murder after the body of a nine-year-old boy, who had gone missing, was discovered in a manhole in Phoenix, KwaZulu-Natal.

Police reportedly discovered the boy’s body in a manhole in Charclay Garden, in the Phoenix area, after a tip-off from a member of the public, Phoenix Sun reported.

The boy, Shahiel Sewpujun, reportedly went missing on Thursday morning while on his way to school.

It is believed he had been abducted.

According to police spokesperson Major Thulani Zwane, no arrests have been made.

“We also appeal to the community to remain calm and allow the police to continue with their investigation regarding the death of the boy,” Zwane added.

In another incident, the body of a seven-year-old boy, who had been reported missing earlier, has been found in a dam in Ottery, Western Cape, on Friday.

It is suspected the boy drowned after he was reportedly seen by eye witnesses falling into a farm dam.
