Girls traumatised after sexual assault
Three young girls are traumatised after allegedly being sexually assaulted in Lenasia, in the south of Johannesburg.
The girls, aged between six and seven, were afraid of going back to school for fear that the suspect would return, Rising Sun Lenasia reported.
Police said the girls, who lived in the Thembelihle informal settlement, had been lured into a veld in Lenasia Extension 10 and sexually assaulted on January 27.
Captain Hector Netshivhodza said an unknown man had approached the children after school and asked them to help him pick up plastic materials.
Netshivhodza said the man promised to pay the children R5 each and later sexually assaulted the children with a vibrator.
According to a family representative, as the girls cried out in pain, the suspect would slap them in an attempt to keep them quiet.
“One of the girls managed to escape and ran home to seek help. That is when the suspect released the other two victims,” said Netshivhodza.
By the time family members arrived at the scene, the man had fled. Investigations are ongoing.
In a separate incident, a man received nine life sentences for raping his lover’s children in a judgment handed down by the High Court in Johannesburg, sitting in Palm Ridge, last week.
The 28-year-old man from Thokoza, Ekurhuleni, repeatedly raped a 12-year-old girl and her 10-year-old sister once, the SA Press Association reported.
The man pleaded not guilty to the charges and later claimed he had been in a consensual relationship with the 12-year-old girl.
Judge Eben Jordaan dismissed his claim as “absolute nonsense”, saying a child could not give consent for sex and that it was an indication he had no remorse for his actions.
