Pilot, gardener die as plane crashes in Vorna Valley, Midrand

Motorists are urged to avoid Albertyn Street between Le Roux Avenue and Harry Galaun Drive as the road is closed.

A light aircraft crashed in Albertyn Street in Vorna Valley today, 8 October. Ria Sebetsa Security Services, Netcare 911 and residents are on the scene, Midrand Reporter reports.

According to Ria Sebetsa Security Services CEO, Danny Madurray, the aircraft crashed in the backyard of a residential property.

Although it has not yet been established how many occupants were aboard the plane, the pilot of the aircraft as well as a gardener have died. This is according to Netcare 911 Media Liason Officer, Shawn Herbst.

“All necessary authorities are on scene and have secured the area for a South African Civil Aircraft  Aviation investigation,” Herbst said.

Motorists are urged to avoid Albertyn Street between Le Roux Avenue and Harry Galaun Drive as the road is closed.
