No arrests have been made after five armed men robbed a filling station and bombed an ATM in Mooikloof, Pretoria.

Police spokesperson Captain Marissa van der Merwe said a group of armed men arrived at the garage at about 11.30pm last night, Rekord East reported.

“They were driving a Volvo and were armed with rifles when they approached the garage. They pointed the firearm at the petrol attendants and told them to lie on the floor,” she said.

“Two suspects went inside the shop, pointed a gun at the cash register employee and told her to get out. A customer was told to lie on the floor.”

Inside the filling station shop, one of the robbers emptied the cash register and took R5 000, while another one set explosives at the drop-safe and bombed the ATM.

The men stole cash from the safe and drove off.

Police investigations are ongoing.

In November last year, suspects in blue overalls and balaclavas blew open a filling station shop’s ATM machine in Kloofsig, Centurion.

The suspects also dislodged a safe behind the teller’s counter using explosives.

Service station owner Ralph Vockerodt said the blast tore the small store apart.
