Midrand family robbed while praying
Two armed suspects allegedly robbed a family while they were praying at their home in the Vorna Valley area of Midrand, Gauteng.
Police spokesperson Constable Matome Tlamela said the family was sitting in their yard when they saw two men jump over the fence, Midrand Reporter reported.
One of the suspects had ordered the family into the house before restraining them with cable ties.
Tlamela said the duo took wedding rings, cellphones, a TV set and two sets of car keys before fleeing in a silver Mercedes Benz.
The items stolen from the family are said to be worth about R80 000.
“The police are still busy with investigations and are hoping to bring the suspects to book,” Tlamela said.
In a separate incident, a Midrand man and his children were robbed at gunpoint shortly after arriving at their complex last month.
It is believed the family was followed home by an unknown number of suspects in a BMW, who then approached them at the entrance of the complex.
The family were reportedly robbed of R20 000 and electronic devices.
