Attempted break-in caught on camera

Two videos have surfaced on YouTube showing four men unsuccessfully attempting to break into a house in Edenvale, on the East Rand.

The CCTV footage, which was captured in February and uploaded last week, shows the men approaching the front entrance to the property. They then proceed to use what appears to be crowbars to try and force open the metal gate.

After struggling with the security gate for a few minutes, the men run off momentarily before returning.

They continue to take turns trying to open the gate before apparently giving up and driving away.

According to Rudi Jeggle , who posted the video, the footage was captured on his father’s surveillance camera situated above his front entrance, Bedfordview Edenvale News reported.

“This is the second attempt of robbery on a Saturday afternoon. The previous attempt was while my parents were actually at home. It’s pretty frightening to see how badly these guys want to get in,” Jeggle said in the description of the two videos.

In another incident, two men were caught on camera attempting to break into a house in Craighall Park, Johannesburg.

The video shows a white vehicle driving past and reversing to park near the property on January 29.

Two men wearing hoodies and caps exit the vehicle and linger outside the gate for several minutes, attempting to lift it open with a crowbar before walking off.
