Suspects at large following housebreaking
Three suspects remain at large after a housebreaking in Krugersdorp, on the West Rand.
CCTV footage recorded by a neighbour across the burgled house shows the suspects breaking into a house in Kenmare. The incident took place on March 11 at 12.45pm, Krugersdorp Newsreported.
The footage shows a white bakkie driving up and down their street in Kenmare. After spending several minutes in the street, the suspects approach the house to check if the residents are home. The suspects – two men and a woman – apparently disconnect the electrical gate motor and quickly reverse into the property.
A neighbour had told homeowner Warren Spiller that a man believed to be in his 40s, a woman in her 30s, and a young man in his 20s approached him and asked for a swing set, which the neighbour had no use for, so he gave it to them.
This after Spiller’s wife found the mysterious swing set in their front yard, seemingly installed by the suspects.
Spiller denied knowing anything about the swing set. When he arrived at his house, he was shocked to discover their property had been broken into. His Yamaha YZ250 motorcycle, a hi-pressure cleaner, a hi-fi system and tools were stolen.
“Every time I go back into the garage, I find something else being missing,” he said.
A case of housebreaking has been opened at the Krugersdorp Police Station.
With housebreakings rife, CCTV footage captured in February showed three men robbing a housein Brenthurst, Brakpan, on the East Rand.
In the video, a man is seen tampering with the electric gate, which he quickly managed to open. Another man then enters the garden and attempts to disable a CCTV camera in the corner of the property. The man is seen followed by two other men, one of whom is covering his face with a gloved hand.
The robbers allegedly fled the house with a television set.
