JAC Motors sets new record for bakkie exports

Chinese automaker JAC Motors achieves significant milestone in global bakkie market.

Chinese automotive manufacturer, JAC Motors, has achieved a remarkable milestone by setting a new record for Chinese bakkie exports in September 2024. The company shipped an impressive 7 054 units to over 130 markets worldwide.

A strong year for JAC Motors

Sales data for the first three quarters of 2024 reveals that JAC Motors exported 47 600 units globally, a significant 13.7% increase year-on-year. This achievement positions JAC Motors as the leading domestic automobile brand in China for bakkie exports, accounting for over 20% of the total.

The company’s statement attributes this success to the competitive nature of its bakkies, coupled with the trust and confidence that global customers place in JAC Motors’ quality and reliability.

Innovation and electrification

At the prestigious IAA Transportation 2024 show in Hannover, Germany, JAC Motors unveiled its groundbreaking battery-electric T9 EV double-cab. This innovative electric vehicle has garnered significant industry attention, highlighting the strength and potential of China’s automotive sector on the global stage.

Expanding global footprint

With 15 years of experience and an annual production capacity of 100 000 bakkies, JAC Motors is well-positioned to capitalise on the rapidly growing global bakkie market. The company is focused on further expanding its market reach and driving sales growth.

Strong performance in South Africa

Karl-Heinz Göbel, CEO of JAC Motors South Africa, emphasised the exceptional quality of JAC products. He highlighted the positive customer feedback received for the new T9, particularly its luxurious features.

In October 2024, JAC Motors South Africa achieved a record sales month, selling 193 units, with the T9 contributing significantly to this success. The company is expanding its dealer network to support this growth, partnering with major groups like Bidvest McCarthy, Halfway Group, CMH, Group1, and M&Z Motors in Namibia.

With a comprehensive dealer network spanning over 70 locations across Southern Africa, JAC Motors is committed to upholding global brand standards and delivering exceptional customer experiences.
