Jeppe reel in KES, Bosch edge Oakdale
Jeppe overturned a 17-point deficit to win at KES, while hosts Rondebosch submitted Oakdale in a tight contest.
In front of a packed crowd in Houghton, Johannesburg, Jeppe and KES threw everything they had at each other, but it was Jeppe who claimed bragging rights, bouncing back from 23-6 to win 37-28. KES had a chance to win it in injury time, but a drop-goal attempt was charged down, with Jeppe flank and man of the match Kuhle Shitlhangu collecting the loose ball to score and break Reds hearts.
Rondebosch completed a good week, following their draw with Paarl Gim at the WP Rugby Day with an impressive 10-7 win over highly-rated Oakdale at the Wynberg Festival in a match that played out like an arm wrestle.
Grey College gave Monnas a rugby lesson under lights on Friday night in Krugersdorp, scoring nine tries in a one-sided 47-8 victory. The only blight on the Grey performance was their goal-kicking, succeeding with just one attempt.
HTS Drostdy pushed Paul Roos all the way in Worcester, as the Maroon Machine was forced to work hard for a narrow 26-20 win over the Donkies.
At Graeme College’s annual festival, which is the pipe-opener of the Eastern Cape schoolboy season, Grey High and St Andrew’s College impressed with comfortable wins over Hudson Park and Framesby respectively.
All roads lead to Stellenbosch this week as Paul Roos host the annual Noord-Suid Festival, which is being played away from Affies for the first time. The Festival takes place from 28 March – 1 April.
