Celebrate World Nutella Day with this dreamy chocolate mousse

This chocolate mousse recipe is ridiculously simple to make and involves no baking, no gelatine, and just a few ingredients.

If you ever needed an excuse to grab a jar of Nutella and a spoon, World Nutella Day is it. Created by Nutella fans back in 2007, this sweet celebration honours the world’s most loved hazelnut spread and all the joy it brings. From toast topper to pancake filler, Nutella has long been the go-to comfort treat. But today, we’re taking it up a notch with a creamy, cloud-like Nutella mousse.

Serves: 4 | Prep time: 10 minutes | Chill time: 1–2 hours

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (250ml) cold whipping cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup (180g) Nutella
  • A pinch of salt
  • Optional: raspberries or shaved chocolate for topping

Method

1. In a large mixing bowl, whip the cream and vanilla until soft peaks form. Be careful not to overwhip – you want it airy and light.

2. In a separate bowl, gently warm the Nutella for about 10 seconds in the microwave to loosen it slightly.

3. Add a third of the whipped cream to the Nutella and stir to combine. This makes it easier to fold the rest in without deflating the mixture.

4. Add the remaining cream in two parts, folding gently with a spatula until smooth and fully blended.

5. Spoon the mousse into serving bowls or ramekins, cover, and chill for at least one hour.

6. Serve topped with fresh raspberries or a sprinkle of grated chocolate.
