Dongfeng Box launched in SA: Full range pricing and specifications

The Dongfeng Box (known as the Nammi 01 in its domestic market) is this Chinese automaker’s first fully-electric vehicle for international markets, including South Africa.
The compact all-electric hatchback is available in four flavours: The E1 330, E2 330, E2 430 and E3 430. The former two variants are equipped with a front-mounted electric motor, fed by a 32.6kWh battery offering a claimed range of 330km, while the latter two derivatives are equipped with a larger, 43.9kWh battery offering a claimed 430km on a full charge.
Across the range, the Box’s electric motor produces 70kW and 160Nm – good for a top speed of 140km/h.
The Box features a minimalist interior, which is finished in eco-friendly materials, and features a 12.8-inch infotainment screen and a 5.0-inch digital instrument cluster. In addition to LED light strip elements for the front and rear, the Dongfeng Box’s exterior also incorporates neat design features such as flush doors handles. Rivals include the likes the BYD Dolphin Surf and GWM Ora 03.

The Dongfeng Box is priced from R459 000, making it one of the most affordable EVs in SA, with the flagship variant starting from R519 000. Included in the price are a five-year/150 000km vehicle and eight-year/200 000km battery warranty, and a five-year/100 000km service plan.
