Experience the vibrant elegance of Purple Rain

Whether you're toasting to a special occasion or simply looking to brighten up your evening, this cocktail will have you sipping in style.

Purple Rain cocktail is a retro cocktail, made famous by Prince’s song of the same name. A variation of the Long Island Iced Tea, the delightful blend of fruity sweetness and a hint of tartness make this cocktail the perfect choice for those who appreciate both flavour and aesthetics in their drinks.

Ingredients

  • 30 ml blue curaçao liqueur
  • 30 ml raspberry liqueur
  • 30 ml vodka
  • 60 ml cranberry juice
  • 30 ml freshly squeezed lime juice
  • Ice cubes
  • Lemon twist or maraschino cherry for garnish (optional)

Method

  1. Begin by chilling a martini or cocktail glass. You can do this by filling it with ice and allowing it to sit while you prepare the cocktail.
  2. In a cocktail shaker, combine the blue curaçao liqueur, raspberry liqueur, vodka, cranberry juice, and freshly squeezed lime juice.
  3. Fill the shaker with ice cubes, ensuring it’s about two-thirds full. Seal the shaker tightly and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds. This will chill the ingredients and create a beautiful froth.
  4. Remove the ice from your chilled glass and strain the vibrant Purple Rain cocktail into it. You can use a cocktail strainer or a fine-mesh strainer to ensure a smooth pour.
  5. If you like, add a lemon twist, rosemary stem, or a maraschino cherry as a garnish.

Note: Adjust the amount of cranberry juice and lime juice to your taste. If you prefer a sweeter cocktail, you can add a touch more cranberry juice, while more lime juice will enhance the tartness.
