Lamb kofta with double-cream fresh yoghurt dipping

No kofta experience is complete without a dipping sauce, and this creamy, spicy yoghurt dip doesn’t disappoint.

Lamb koftas are a delicious dish perfect for a casual meal or a family dinner spread. The rich, spiced lamb is best enjoyed on top of a warm pita bread, accompanied by a simple mix of cucumber, tomato, and red onion, lightly dressed with a vinaigrette and scattered with fresh herbs like mint and parsley.

For dipping, a spiced yoghurt sauce brings it all together. Recipe compliments of Rediscover Dairy.

Ingredients

  • 500 g Lamb mince
  • 2 tbsp salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp ground coriander

For the yoghurt dip:

  • 250 ml double-cream fresh yoghurt
  • 1 tsp chopped fresh dill
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 2 tsp red chilli sauce
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • flatbread to serve
  • sale & pepper to taste

Method

  1. In a large bowl, combine the mince, chopped dill, salt and pepper, smoked paprika, cumin, and coriander. Mix well and shape into koftas. Write koftas around the wooden skewers and set aside.
  2. Heat a large griddle pan over high heat. Brush the koftas with olive oil and place in the griddle pan, cooking each side for 5 minutes. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  3. For the spiced yoghurt, combine all ingredients in a small bowl and mix well.
  4. Serve the lamb koftas with flatbread, chopped salad and spiced yoghurt.
