Enjoy a healthy snack with dehydrated apple rounds

If you're after a wholesome and kid-friendly snack that’s sweet and preservative-free, dehydrated apple rounds are a brilliant option.

Light and crispy, these homemade apple treats are a great alternative to shop-bought dried fruit – and they come together with minimal effort using the Instant Pot’s Dehydrate function.

Perfect for lunchboxes, snack bowls, or a bit of guilt-free grazing between meals, apple rounds offer a satisfying bite without added sugar or preservatives. All you need are apples, a splash of lemon juice, and a little time. The lemon helps keep the fruit looking fresh and prevents browning, while the low, slow heat gently draws out the moisture without compromising flavour. Recipe compliments of Instant Pot.

Prep Time: 5 – 10 mins | Cook Time: 3.5 hours

Ingredients

  • 4 apples of your choice
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Method

  1. Peel the apples or leave them with the skin on.
  2.  Then slice the apples into rings, very thin (1/4cm) for crispy apple pieces or a bit thicker (1/2cm) for more chewy apple pieces.
  3.  Brush/spray lemon juice onto the apple rings to help keep their colour.
  4.  Lay the apple slices in your Duo Crisp Air Fryer basket or on your dehydrating racks (they can overlap a bit as they shrink, you can rearrange them during the cooking process).
  5.  Set your Instant Pot to Dehydrate at 60C for 3.5 hours. Check apple rings halfway through to rearrange.
