Creamy fudge black Laager rooibos tea

Rooibos fudge sounds unusual at first, yet once you taste it, you wonder why no one introduced you to it sooner.

Take this traditional favourite and give it a Laager Rooibos twist! This super simple recipe is easy to make and can be enjoyed with a cup of Laager Rooibos tea.

Ingredients

  • 50 ml strong black Laager Rooibos Tea
  • 1 kg sugar
  • 250 ml condensed milk
  • 115g margarine
  • 5 ml vanilla essence

Method

  1. Add the Laager Rooibos, sugar, condensed milk and margarine to a saucepan and heat over a low heat, stirring continuously until all the sugar has dissolved.
  2. Cook it until it reaches a soft ball stage, stirring continuously to prevent it from burning.
  3. Cool slightly and then add the vanilla essence. Mix with a wooden spoon till the mixture gets stiff.
  4. Press into a baking tray and refrigerate. Once set, cut it into squares.
