Lychee martini with vodka and vermouth

The lychee martini rose in popularity in the late 1990s in Asian-fusion restaurants as a lighter alternative to classic martinis.

This is a clean, lightly perfumed cocktail that’s perfect for weekend sundowners. Lychee brings a soft sweetness and floral note, vodka gives it a kick, while a small amount of vermouth keeps the drink from being too syrupy.

Ingredients

  • 60 ml vodka
  • 30 ml lychee liqueur or lychee syrup
  • 15 ml dry vermouth
  • Ice
  • Lychees, to garnish

Method

  1. Add the vodka, lychee liqueur or syrup and dry vermouth to a cocktail shaker.
  2. Fill the shaker with ice.
  3. Shake firmly for 10 to 15 seconds until well chilled.
  4. Strain into a chilled martini or coupe glass.
  5. Garnish with lychees and serve immediately.
