Ease into the weekend with a passion fruit citrus spritzer
This vibrant passion fruit cocktail combines vodka, fresh lime and sparkling wine for a tropical and aromatic drink.
Passion fruit shows is used in a lot of cocktails, and for good reason. Bartenders love it because it does several jobs at once. It brings sharp acidity, natural sweetness and a bold tropical aroma, all without needing artificial flavouring or heavy syrups. It’s ideal for classics like martinis, sours, and spritz-style drinks, where you want fruit that cuts through the alcohol rather than getting lost in it. Topped with sparkling wine or soda, this passion fruit citrus spritz is light enough to sip slowly on a casual Friday evening. Best of all, it takes only minutes to shake together.
Prep: 5 minutes | Serves: 2
Ingredients
- 60 ml vodka
- 2 fresh passion fruit, pulp scooped out
- 30 ml fresh lime juice
- 20 ml simple syrup, adjust to taste
- Ice
- 100 ml sparkling wine or soda water
- Fresh mint, to garnish
- Extra lime wedges, to serve
Method
- Add the vodka, passion fruit pulp, lime juice and simple syrup to a cocktail shaker.
- Fill with ice and shake well until chilled and slightly frothy.
- Strain evenly into two coupe or stemmed glasses.
- Top with a splash of sparkling wine or soda water for lift.
- Garnish with fresh mint and, if you like, a slice of lime or extra passion fruit pulp. Serve immediately.
Easy variations
- Make it a rum version: Swap the vodka for white rum if you want something softer and slightly sweeter.
- Go darker and deeper: Use dark rum instead and skip the sparkling wine. Shake and serve over ice for a richer, almost tiki-style drink.
- Turn it into a margarita twist: Replace the vodka with tequila and add a splash of triple sec. Serve in a salt-rimmed glass.
- Spice it up: Muddle a thin slice of fresh chilli in the shaker before adding the other ingredients.
- Make a mocktail base: Skip the alcohol, double the passion fruit and top with sparkling water and a squeeze of extra lime.
