1 dead, 1 critical after N2 shooting and crash in KZN

Paramedics described a crash scene as 'total carnage' after a vehicle with four occupants rolled several times, leaving traffic backed up for hours.

A shooting and a car crash left one person dead and another in a critical condition on the N2 south just after the Prospecton off-ramp in KZN yesterday afternoon.

South Coast Sun reports that ALS Paramedics Medical Services spokesperson Garrith Jamieson says calls about the incident started coming in just before 17:00.

“Paramedics arrived at the scene and discovered total carnage as they found that the vehicle had rolled numerous times.

“They also found that two of the males in the vehicle had sustained gunshot wounds. It is believed four occupants were in the vehicle,” he adds.

The dead man is believed to have been a passenger.

The driver was treated at the scene by advanced life support paramedics before being transported to hospital.

The N2 peak-hour traffic was severely affected because of the active crime scene.
