1 dead, 50 families lose everything in Western Cape Christmas Day fire

Fifty families are in urgent need of clothing, food, blankets and other essentials after a fire destroyed their homes yesterday.

The KwaNonqaba, Mossel Bay, community is reeling after a devastating fire caused the death of one person and destroyed 50 informal structures last night.

The fire left 50 families without homes or any belongings.

According to Mossel Bay CPF, the blaze spread rapidly through the densely populated area, leaving residents with little time to escape.

Many are now homeless and without necessities, including clothing, food and bedding.

The community is calling for urgent donations to help those affected by the fire. Donations of clothing, food, blankets and other essential items can be dropped off at the KwaNonqaba SAPS.

“Anyone who can contribute is urged to reach out and provide assistance.

“The community is in desperate need of support to help these families get back on their feet,” said the CPF.
