1 killed, another airlifted after Pretoria shooting

A man was killed and another critically injured in a Mountain View shooting, with the suspected shooter swiftly apprehended.

A man was shot and killed, and another critically injured, in a shooting in Mountain View, Pretoria, yesterday afternoon.

Pretoria Rekord reports Best Care Emergency Medical Services spokesperson Xander Loubser says they responded to the incident near their head office at approximately 14:45.

“Upon arrival, our emergency responders confirmed the devastating loss of one individual at the scene. A second individual was found in critical condition,” he adds.

The suspected shooter was apprehended at the scene by Brinant Security, whose swift actions ensured the safety of everyone present.

“We commend Brinant Security for their outstanding work in managing this situation,” Loubser says.

The injured victim was stabilised by Best Care Emergency Medical Services in collaboration with Netcare 911 and airlifted by Netcare911 Helicopter Emergency Services to a trauma facility.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, and our thoughts are with the injured individual, wishing them a full and swift recovery,” Loubser adds.

Investigations are ongoing.
