1 shot and killed outside a Mpumalanga magistrate’s court
Police are investigating the killing of one person and the assault of others outside a court where six suspects were appearing in connection with a murder.

One person was fatally shot and three people assaulted in an incident that occurred outside the Barberton Magistrate’s Court in Mpumalanga on Tuesday.
Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Donald Mdhluli says the incident occurred during the court appearance of six suspects in connection with the murder of Mandla Mamba, a former City of Mbombela councillor and ANC member.
Mamba was gunned down in Barberton in the early hours of July 2 last year.
Mdhluli says preliminary investigations suggest that a scuffle broke out between people who were outside the court. It is alleged that during this time, people were severely assaulted and one was shot and killed.
Circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation.
Police have opened a murder case, with three additional counts of attempted murder, says Mdhluli.
The deceased is yet to be identified.
Police urge anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the perpetrators to call the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111 or send information via the My SAPS app. All received information will be treated confidentially and callers may opt to remain anonymous.
