15 injured after gunman lets loose inside Gauteng tavern

A man reportedly entered the tavern in Soshanguve and started firing shots at random before fleeing the scene.

Tshwane police have launched a manhunt after 15 patrons were wounded in a tavern shooting in Soshanguve, north of Pretoria.

The incident happened on Sunday night.

“Upon arrival, police found several people with gunshot wounds and they were taken to the local clinic and hospitals,” says police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi.

Nevhuhulwi explains an unknown gunman stormed into the tavern and began shooting.

“The suspect pounced on the patrons while they were still enjoying and consuming alcohol and without saying anything just started shooting randomly.”

She says the motive of the shooting is unknown at this stage, and that no arrest has been made yet.

Nevhuhulwi adds a case with 15 counts of attempted murder was opened for further investigations.

She encourages anyone with information that can assist the police to contact the Crime Stop line on 08600 10111 or send tip-offs on the MySAPS app.
