16-year-old girl fatally stabbed allegedly by her boyfriend

The suspect’s sister heard an argument inside a shack between the two but the door was locked.

Temba police are investigating a murder case after a 16-year-old girl was fatally stabbed allegedly by her 22-year-old boyfriend in Stinkwater RDP on Monday.

Temba police spokesperson Herman Moremi said the incident happened around 14:00.

Moremi said the suspect’s sister heard an argument inside a shack between the two but the door was locked.

“She further heard the deceased saying ‘sorry, I won’t repeat that mistake again’. The sister went to call the suspect’s mother for help.”

Moremi said upon arrival, they found the deceased with multiple stab wounds on the upper body lying on the floor and the suspect missing.

“The girl was certified dead on the scene and the suspect was arrested after he was handed over to the police by his family.”

Moremi said the murder weapon has not been found yet.

“The suspect will appear in Moretele magistrate’s court facing murder charges.”

Last week Saturday, Tshwane North Corridor spokesperson Captain Stephen Malululeka said Temba police are investigating a case of murder after a man was beaten to death in a mob justice incident.

The victim, who sustained various injuries and died as he was being treated by hospital staff, was accused by an angry mob of assaulting his girlfriend.

Maluleka said, according to the information received by the police, the 38-year-old victim was found naked and beaten on the day.

“He reportedly told the hospital staff that he fell victim to mob justice after he was accused of assaulting his girlfriend.”

Maluleka said the man died shortly after sharing his ordeal with the staff on how he was attacked.

Moremi advised anyone who was being abused to seek help immediately and report any domestic-related incidents regardless of whether they were emotional or verbal abuse.

“They can escalate into a serious incident like murder.

“And there are police and social workers who can help to prevent this loss of lives.”
