19 injured in 13-vehicle pile-up on N2 at Esperanza, KZN

Poor visibility, from a grass fire, has been blamed for the multi-vehicle pileup.

Emergency services including Kwazulu Private Ambulance Service responded to the N2 southbound at Esperanza for reports of a multi-vehicle collision earlier this afternoon.

According to reports from the scene, heavy smoke from a grass fire decreased visibility and resulted in the collision.

Emergency personnel found that 13 vehicles had been involved in the collision. Paramedics assessed the scene and found that 19 patients had sustained injuries ranging from serious to minor.
