SAPS is investigating the deaths of two people, at two different airports, on Saturday.

The Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) has confirmed that a person died at OR Tambo International Airport on Saturday, after falling from parking level 5 to the ground.

A passenger also died after collapsing in the domestic arrivals area at King Shaka International Airport on Saturday.

“ACSA can confirm that an unidentified male passenger passed away at King Shaka International Airport. Emergency services were immediately called and attended to him, but he was unfortunately declared dead on the scene,” says ACSA spokesperson Ernest Mulibana.

The causes of death in both incidents are unknown, however, both cases have been handed over to the SAPS and inquest dockets have been opened for investigation, he adds.

“ACSA extends its deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the travellers during this difficult time,” Mulibana says.
