2 with gunshot wounds found inside vehicle in Pinetown

Suzuka Road in Pinetown was brought to a standstill after a car was riddled with bullets.

One person has been airlifted to hospital after being found with gunshot wounds in a car on Suzuka Road in Westmead, Pinetown, in KZN, this morning. ALS Paramedics reported that they responded to the call to find the bullet-riddled vehicle in the middle of the road.

“On arrival paramedics found SAPS in attendance with the area cordoned off. Paramedics found two males believed to be in their 40s who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

“One of the patients was in a critical condition and was stabilised on scene. Due to the severity of his injuries a decision was made to call in the Netcare911 Aeromedical Helicopter to rapidly transport the man to a level one trauma unit for the urgent care that he required. The second man was stabilised on scene before being rushed to a nearby hospital,” says ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson.

Jamieson adds the roadway was closed off to allow emergency personnel to work, as well as to let SAPS investigate. At this stage the events leading up to the shooting is unknown, however, SAPS will be investigating further.
