3 homeless men rescued from mob justice in Mbombela
Three men are recovering in hospital after being attacked by a group of people behind a shopping centre.
The police were called to rescue three homeless men who were being attacked by members of the public behind a shopping centre in Mbombela, Mpumalanga, yesterday.
The incident occurred at about 12:00, behind The Square.
What the men were accused of doing before the attack was not known at the time of publishing.
Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Donald Mdhluli confirmed that the SAPS was called to rescue the men. However, when they arrived, they were already injured and paramedics were called.
The victims were treated on the scene before being transported to Rob Ferreira Hospital for further medical treatment.
“We cannot give full details of what happened until an official case is opened,” says Mdhluli.
The victims were not available for comment at the time of publishing.
The trio are recovering in hospital.
