3 men arrested for transporting body in a wheelbarrow in KZN

Three men are facing charges after security officers caught them transporting a body in a wheelbarrow near Durban.

A bizarre incident unfolded in Isipingo, south of Durban, on Saturday morning when three men were caught transporting a decomposing body in a wheelbarrow.

The men, who are expected to appear in court this week, were spotted by PT Alarms officers on Mahes Road in Malabar Hills.

According to PT Alarms, the men were pushing a wheelbarrow with what appeared to be the body of a man.

Upon investigation, it was discovered that the body was that of a man believed to be in his 30s.

“There were no visible injuries on the deceased, and it was unclear how he died. The men provided conflicting stories when questioned and were detained until police arrived,” said the security company.

KZN police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshuinda confirmed the arrests.

He said the men face charges of tampering with a dead body and defeating the ends of justice.

Netshuinda added that the motive behind the men’s actions is still unclear, as they were unable to explain why they were transporting the decomposing body in a wheelbarrow.
