3-year-old poisoned: Brother (19) expected in Vereeniging court
A 19-year-old suspect has been arrested after his three-year-old brother was found dead in a dustbin, allegedly poisoned, in Orange Farm.
Police have arrested a 19-year-old suspect following the murder of his three-year-old brother, who was allegedly poisoned. The incident occurred on Friday.
According to Sedibeng Ster, local police spokesperson Sergeant Shaan Motsapi says officers arrived at the scene and found the boy’s lifeless body inside a dustbin.
“The gruesome discovery was made by another sibling who became suspicious when he saw the suspect pulling a dustbin to an open veld near the N1.
“He followed the suspect and ordered him to open the dustbin. The suspect refused, and an altercation ensued. The suspect subsequently fled the scene.”
Community members assisted police, who worked tirelessly to locate and arrest the suspect.
The suspect will soon appear in the Vereeniging Magistrate’s Court on charges of murder and defeating the ends of justice.
Orange Farm SAPS station commander Brigadier Mashole Manamela commended officers for ensuring the suspect was brought to justice and thanked community members for their assistance.
“The law should take decisive action against the suspect,” he adds.
